PIGEONS NESTING IN CITY EAVES AWAITING NEW CHICKS

(Ed.'s Note: The cooing of a pigeon in the eaves of a downtown business caught the attention of one of our seven readers and he reports that as he passed under the overhang, the female pigeon nesting cooed out a warning. According to a reference website, female pigeons are less vocal than males, but will coo to greet their mates or grunt as a warning to those approaching their nests.

Pigeons mate for life and share the care of their eggs and young. Our reader reports that as he snapped the photos above, the male pigeon fluttered about in a show of protection of his mate and their future chicks. We have a lot to learn from these little creatures.)
