A delinquent-tax attorney accused of assaulting a relative.
And her boyfriend, Frankie Joe Olivo, listed on the Cameron County website as the 404th District Court Coordinator, accused of harassment in a county court-at-law and of felony stalking in district court, are just some of our local luminaries with the legal and judiciary brother/sisterhood who tread through these hallways.
Monica Solis, a delinquent-tax attorney with Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, the nationwide giants of delinquent tax collections who – if they do not own the county's politicians – have put down a hefty down payment, is charged with assault under the Family Code. (2018-CCR-572-B)
Solis was indicted after she was accused of assaulting Bianca Elissa Alvarado, a family or household member September 21, 2016. Cameron County Investigator George Delaunay filed the complaint and presented it to a grand jury. She is scheduled for trial August 5.
Olivo, whose 404th District Court work site is just up the stairs on the third floor, is facing slightly more serious charges.
He is facing misdemeanor harassment charges in County Court-at-Law #5 for sending vulgar messages with video/photos to the legal secretary of a local law firm. (2018-CCR-3150)
The woman, who we won't identify, said she was taken by surprise when she started receiving the vulgar messages. She called the Brownsville Police Department and reported it and the electronic trail allegedly led back to Olivo.
A companion lawsuit filed in the 138th District Court charges him with a felony for stalking the woman (2018-CR-00082-B). In it, the DA's Office alleges that from March 20 to March 26, 2016, Olivo engaged in a course of conduct that violated the law when he "initiated communications with the complainant intended to harass, annoy, alarm, and embarrass (her).
"In the course of communication, (he) made obscene comments to wit: A message notification from (Olivo) that when opened showed a male subject stroking, holding, and jerking his penis with his left hand while recording the acts with an electronic device with his right hand."
Sources say that 404th District Judge Elia Cornejo-Lopez had been appraised of the situation and assured them that she had administered "internal discipline" on Olivo. Just last week local attorneys say he was still working at the courthouse.
So now you know. It may well be that – if true – Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson tax-delinquent attorney Solis would better serve the firm in the muscle section of their collections branch. And that boyfriend Olivo be prohibited from owning a cell phone.
