They saw it for what it was and rejected the prosecution of Cameron County tax Assessor-Collector Tony Yzaguirre by District Attorney Luis V. Saenz.
The year-long prosecution – a majority of the jury decided – amounted to nothing more than a vindictive reelection stunt by the highest law enforcement official in the county.
In the end, the jury did not buy it.

The Nueces County jury found Yzaguirre not guilty of all charges filed against him including bribery.
This morning – after deliberating for the past two days – they cleared him of all charges.
He had been indicted and charged with eight counts of bribery, six counts of abuse of official capacity and one count of official oppression.
