MID-MORNING FIRE GUTS BUILDING AT HACKBERRY AND OPI

Ed.'s Note: A mid-morning fire at a home near the intersection of Hackberry Street and Old Port Isabel Road gutted the second floor of a two-story building on Hackberry. Not even the proximity of Fire Station 6 on Old Port Isabel allowed the firefighters to contain the fast-moving flames that destroyed the top of the building. Other stations assisted Fire Station 6 firefighters on the blaze.)
