(Ed's Note: Tamaulipas Gov. Lic. Javier Garcia Cabeza de Vaca has declared martial law starting at midnight today and prohibiting the public to be outside their homes from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Similar martial law declarations had been made in Reynosa and Laredo, but those were based on combating drug cartel activity.
The current declaration applies to the entire state and is based - according to the governor's press release - upon the current COVID-19 crisis.
