Have you heard what happened at a popular Mexican restaurant on Saturday?
It seems that Da Mayor Trey Mendez and Mr. Amigo For-Life denizen Bob Torres were sharing a table when Zeke Silva walked in with his son.
As he shook hands all around, we are told by reliable sources that Torres refused to shake hands with the ebullient administrative assistant of District 37 state rep Alex Dominguez.
But not only did he leave Zeke with his stretched hand before his son, but also accused him - of all things - leaking Mr. Amigo chisme to this blog. Torres, who considers the organization hsi personal fiefdom and requires the perfunctory genuflect from lesser mortals,- then spewed, in the crowded restaurant a few choice insults with the "F" word for good measure.
This set off Silva, especially with his son and general public, including ladies, present.
He turned around and addressed Torres in a similar fashion, spiced this remarks with a few "F-word adjectives and asked him outside to defend his honor, an invitation that Torres - who Silva called "Baboso" - prudently declined as Mendez attempted to smooth the ruffled feathers of the two gents.
The two parted ways amidst the silence of the stunned restaurant-goers.
In case Mr. Torres needs to know, Silva has not been the course of leaks from his organization. There are many people who have sent us information painting the operation of its inner working in a most unfavorable light, especially the imperious nature of its past presidents.
What will become of this tiff? It probably amounts to a tempest in a teapot, but the idea of the diminutive Mendez standing between these two big boys is somewhat comical.
Mr. Amigo 2019-2020, Julio Cesar Chavez - despite tumors that he would not appear in Saturday's parade did - and then promptly took off to the fiesta in Matamoros, just he said he would. Looks like he had a good time without any fisticuffs reported.
