The Brownsville Fire Department is now in full investigative mode into the arrest of a suspected serial arsonist, according to a local broadcaster.
KRGV Channel Five News reports that the Brownsville Fire Marshal’s Office is asking the public for any pictures or description of anyone who may be a suspect.
And the state is now getting involved; posting signs around the neighborhood asking for information on the suspect, or suspects, as well as offering a cash reward.
Investigators had told media reps that the signature of the arsonist - gasoline-soaked sponges left at the scene - indicates that it may be same suspect that has deliberately set at least three other fires downtown.
In the latest fire between 9th and 10 streets on Monroe Street. The fires destroyed two homes amid criticism from neighborhood residents that the response time of the Brownsville Fire Department - only three blocks away - had been too slow and resulted in the total loss of the homes.

The fire has caused friction between the city administration and fire department officials, reports indicate.
