For some time now, courthouse observers have whispered about the alleged existence of a mole in Luis V. Saenz's Cameron County District Attorney Office.
And as the 2020 political season approaches, some of his close associates think that his opponents plan to use inside information leaked to his opponents to derail his reelection bid.
Some - speaking on condition of anonymity - say that someone may already be leaking confidential files information to certain defense attorneys who have cultivated the mole (allegedly a female staffer) and count on her help to defend their clients.
"They are afraid that Luis is going to be set up under the cover of the Me-Too movement and crate a scandal like the one that brought down his administration many years ago," said one. "People are going to say that he hasn't gotten any wiser as he gets older. He has already been warned by friends to be cautious."
Other than to say that the mole's first name begins with the letter 'P," these same sources declined to be more specific on her identity. They say that some of the woman's former friends have heard her boast of how the plan was to create a scandal as the election approaches that will bring up the similar allegations of the past scandals.
"The politics are nasty,"' said another. "Apparently there is a group of Saenz haters who have been cultivating their access to the inner workings of the office."
