(Ed.'s Note: They park wherever they wish despite knowing that anyone else would be stopped from parking there. In the case of City of Brownsville District 2 incumbent commissioner Jessica Tetreau (top picture), it took repeated complaints to city police to have her move her car, the black Tesla, from the no-parking zone.
In the case of Mayor Tony Martinez, he thought nothing of parking his logo campaign-emblazoned Jeep well within the prohibited campaigning zone (2nd photo.)
Tetreau again trumped the city police by placing a tent over the pubic sidewalk (3rd photo) for her campaign workers blocking the walkway. Earlier, police had forced Pat Ahumada, one of her two challengers, to remove lawn signs from library property and warned workers of other candidates from blocking the sidewalk and obstructing traffic when they tried too give passing motorists campaign literature. One rule applies to mere mortals, the other to elected officials.
Illustrative of Martinez's chutzpah is the fact that even after police had told Tetreau she could not park at the curb between the entrance and exit from the public library onto Central blvd., guess whose campaign truck rolled in and park? Would you believe Hizzoner, Da Mayor Martinez? (Photo 4)
Someone should tell these incumbents that the definition of public service is not for the public to serve you, but rather the other way around.)
