After months of public criticism, embattled City of Brownsville Public Works director Santana Torres has been removed from hiss position.
No one is saying why, citing confidential personnel policy, but apparently it has something to do with alleged rampant cronyism at the department.
Torres has faced stinging criticism based in part on the fact that he did not ave an engineering degree and the chronic bad condition of streets in the city. The city's administration has not announced replacement or whether the position will be advertised.
