We were reminded that longtime 197th District Court Judge will retire this coming January after deciding she would not seek reelection.
We had mentioned in a previous post that the judge had attended Central Michigan University and received her degree in Social Work there before getting her law degree in Houston.
That led us to the graphic above of a CMU Alumnus magazine where her profile revealed - unbeknownst to us - that she was the daughter of a Puerto Rican migrant to Michigan who the din of hard work and struggle, climbed to the top of her profession. (Click on graphic to enlarge.)
Come January, the 197th District Court will be presided over by former magistrate Adolfo Cordova attorney Carlos Masso in a runoff.
Migdalia - or "Micky" to her friends - will long be remembered by the local bar and the judiciary. And there will always be a soft spot in our hearts for her.
